This is a ‘proof-of-concept’ site exploring the use of web technologies to give access to geological and geoconservation information from a range of authoritative sources (detailed below).

Many of the included data sets and map layers are derived from open data sources, or sources with liberal licensing. If you copy or adapt this application you must comply with the copyright and terms of use of the relevant data sources. All relevant attribution must be displayed.
The web maps include a composite high-resolution hillshade terrain base-map layer for South West England, derived from the National LIDAR Programme licensed under the Open Government Licence v3.0.

This application has been built using open source software available from the Opens Source Geospatial Foundation (OSGeo). Including QGIS (The leading Free and Open Source Desktop GIS), GDAL/OGR (C++ translator library for more than 200 raster and vector geospatial data formats) and LeafletJS (an open-source JavaScript library for mobile-friendly interactive maps.
